Weddings and Donuts - Guest Post from Cast Iron Caterer

by Madisen Osborn-Layton
Wedding cakes have come a long way over the years, but wedding DONUTS?! On November 3rd, Cast Iron Catering had the pleasure of doing a beautiful two tier ribbon wrapped cake with fifty donuts for a wonderful couple in Edmonton, AB.
The cake was chocolate on the bottom filled with custard and vanilla with whipped buttercream on the top. A custom family heirloom dove set topped the cake, accompanied by some beautiful Wilton made gum paste flowers. Donuts came in with five flavours: lemon, vanilla glazed, vanilla chocolate, chocolate chocolate, and vanilla maple. All cake donuts were decorated with Wilton sprinkles of course!
Everyone loves tradition, but donuts are a great way to make cake service easier as they are pre-cut and have no waste (especially when they taste this good!). The recipe used was found on Wilton’s website, and the pans were Wilton brand as well. Needless to say, this wonderful display was a Wilton special, and this special day was made even more incredible with the happy bride and groom tying the knot.
Congratulations Erica and Kyle from your friends at Cast Iron Catering!
